Position Summary:

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Organize and participate in monthly safety audits of all departments.
  • Work with a safety team that aids in the identification and resolution of issues or areas of improvement, training of employees, and overall awareness of everyday safety.
  • Assist in tracking and following up on all accidents and near miss reports to prevent any future incidents.
  • Improve safety awareness for employees through weekly supervisor lead safety discussions tracking employees’ attendance.
  • Follow up on all safety related work orders or improvements to make sure progress is being made.
  • Lift truck training.
  • New hire safety training.
  • Identify training needs and implement employee training programs.
  • Evaluate ergonomic working conditions to aid in reducing sprains, strains and repetitive type of injuries.
  • Monitor working procedures for safety and training related issues and improvements.
  • Assist with on-the-job training in organizing procedures, coordinating trainer/trainee interaction and tracking.

Skills & Qualifications:

Knowledge of safety and training practices normally acquired through a Bachelor’s degree or Associate’s degree in Risk Control, Occupational Safety and Health, or related field, or commensurate experience.

  • One to three years of experience in a Safety or Training role in a manufacturing facility
  • OSHA 10/30 Certified, preferred
  • Safety compliance audits
  • Knowledge of Emergency Action Plans, Confined Space, Forklift Training, Lockout/Tagout, Hazard Communication, PPE, Fire Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Respiratory Protection, etc.
  • Injury reporting and investigations
  • Ability to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Requires excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Excellent computer skills in Excel, Word and Outlook
